About the Ministry and Job Center

The Ministry of Youth and Sports Development previously a Government Department was upgraded to a ministerial status by the immediate past administration of His Excellency Senator Liyel Imoke in 2007. The ministry which is headed by the Commissioner – Comrade Asu Okang and assisted by the Permanent Secretary – Mr. Samson Ogar, has as its mandate and responsibility of rendering services to the teeming youth of the state through well planned youth and sports strategic initiations as captured in their strategic Action plan, see attached annexure A, these services are provided both at the ministry’s Headquarters and its youth development offices in the 18 LGA of the state

We sets out a strategy for collaborative efforts between Cross River State, development partners, the private sector and civil society organizations in promoting economic empowerment, education, access to ICT, healthy living in the community and social engagement for youthful population of Cross River state.

I am confident that these efforts will play a role in harnessing the Demographic Dividend in Cross River State. I therefore recommend this programme to all stakeholders and encourage them to make investments towards further improving the status of the Youth of Cross River state.
